1 killed, 4 injured in road mishaps

SHILLONG, Dec 17: One person was killed and two others were injured when a motorbike heading towards Tura from Okapara today hit a pedestrian at Mukdangra under Betasingh Block in South West Garo Hills District. The victims identified as Thangrim B. Marak (25) was shifted to Garobadha PHC while Mikson A Sangma (20) and Henry Sangma (18) was rushed to Garobadha PHC. Later Mikson A Sangma and Henry Sangma were shifted to Tura Civil Hospital. Marak, however, succumbed to his injuries.   In another incident, a passenger of a Smit bound TATA Sumo sustained injuries when the vehicle was hit from behind by a bus at Nongmadan in Laitkor under Mylliem Block, East Khasi Hills. The victim identified as Baniaraplang Kharkongor (19) was immediately shifted to a city hospital.  Meanwhile, a TATA Mobile pickup truck overturned while it was parked on an uphill road at 18th Mile in Byrnihat under Umling Block in Ri Bhoi district. An occupant of vehicle sustained injuries.  The victim identified as Bobita Das (30) was shifted to Byrnihat PHC and then to Guwahati Medical College in Guwahati, Assam.
