SHILLONG, April 7: Around 10,000 children in East Khasi Hills district are still unvaccited or are partially vaccited despite the immunization programmes every Wednesday in the sub-centres or primary health centres (PHC) and community health centres (CHC) of the district. While speaking at the launch of Mission Indradhanush, deputy commissioner Sanjay Goyal said that it is the duty of the parents to see that children up to the age of 5 years gets the right immunization at the right point of time. He also said that a survey was done in which it was found that 45% of the parents are not giving any vaccition to their children. Goyal also urged the people of the State to take advantage of this special immunization campaign and to bring their children to these vaccition camps to get immunized. The launching of the Mission Indradhanush took place at the office of the District Medical and Health Officer East Khasi Hills in the city on Tuesday. District Medical and Health Officer Dr. RM Lamare disclosed in a press release that as part of this mission, four Intensified Routine Immunization phases are recommended, one phase every month between April 2015 and July, 2015 involving all Health Workers particularly ANMs for a period of 7 days to ensure high coverage. The immunization will start form the 7th of every month for seven days. This will continue for the remaining months till July 2015.
