103rd birth anniversary of JB Hagjer observed

Haflong, April 2: The 103rd birth anniversary of J B Hagjer was observed at different places like Umrangso, Diyungbra and Maibang in the district of Dima Hasao with a day-long programme on Sunday.

At Haflong, the Cultural and Publicity Department of N C Hills Autonomous Council organized the 103rd birth anniversary celebration of J B Hagjer at the District Library Auditorium in a befitting manner.

The event started with the offering of floral tribute to the portrait of J B Hagjer by local MLA and also the son of Hagjer along with Niranjan Hojai, Kulendra Daolagiupu, Executive Members of NCHAC and several others officials and people from various communities.

Speaking on the occasion, all the speakers dwelt at length the life and the contribution of Hagjer while appealing to the youths of Dima Hasao to follow the footsteps of Hagjer and to take inspiration from the life of Hagjer whose contribution for the uplift of society has always admired by all sections of the people living in Dima Hasao.

Earlier, a booklet on the life and contribution of J B Hagjer was released by the Deputy Director, Sanjay Jidung.
