108 ILP defaulters deported from Arunachal district

Our correspondent

Itanagar, May 21: East Siang SP Prashant Gautam has said that in an effort to check the inflow of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants and others in Arunachal Pradesh after the NRC drive in Assam, a total of 108 intruders were detected by police and deported beyond the inner line jurisdiction in last two days from the district.

The SP said out of 108 violators, 23 were detected at Sille-Oyan police check point and 85 identified at Ruksin gate, who were trying to enter the State without valid Inner Line Permit (ILP). He said the drive is being carried out by SDPO Ruksin Olik Tamut while adding that along with rest of the State, East Siang police has also intensified the ILP checking in various parts of the district.

Meanwhile, the district administration and police have urged the genuine visitors from outside the State to obtain valid ILP from the competent authorities while visiting or staying in the district. This intensified ILP drive is being carried out in accordance with the threat perception looming by way of a large number of illegal migrants queuing up to enter or to take shelter in Arunachal Pradesh after the alleged recent displacement of Bangladeshi and Rohingyas from Assam in their “much hyped” NRC drive to detect and deport illegal foreigners.
