12 Hour Assam Bandh by NDFB hits BTC Area

Guwahati: The 12 hour state-wide bandh called by NDFB after verdict of the special court awarding life imprisonment to National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) founder chairman Ranjan Daimary alias DR Nabla in the serial bomb blasts in Assam that claimed 88 lives and left around 500 injured on October 30, 2008 has evoked full response in entire Udalguri district on Thursday.

The bandh brought the normal life to a standstill as the business establishments remained down shutter today in several parts of the Udalguri district.

The commercial and private vehicles remained off-road causing trouble to commuters. The places like Khoirabari, Paneri, Tangla, Bhergaon, Dimakuchi, Kalaigaon, Udalguri, Rowta, Orang, Mazbat also evoked a full response.

Meanwhile, the shops and weekly market of Udalguri town were put down shutter after the pronouncement of the court verdict on Wednesday evening itself.

A similar kind of situation was witnessed in Kokrajhar today. Both commercial and private vehicles remained off today. No reports of clashes being reported from Kokrajhar during the 12 hr Assam Bandh by NDFB.

Also, in Bijni under Chirang District, normal life was hit by the 12 hr Assam bandh by the NDFB leading all the business establishments to remain down shutter. No vehicular movement was witnessed during the course of time.

Speaking to the media in this regard, Ex Bodo Liberation Tiger Force (BLTF) President, Paniram Brahma said, “Rajan Daimary led NDFB faction is in peace talks with the Government of India. but, he was given life imprisonment by the Special CBI court yesterday. Both Ranjan Daimary led-NDFB and the Government of India want peace, thus, they are in a dialogue process. The verdict on the 2008 Guwahati Bomb Blast against Ranjan Daimary and 14 others was wrong. We wanted the peace process to have continued further.”

It may be mentioned that General Secretary, B Ohnjalu of NDFB earlier through a press statement called for the 12 hours Assam Bandh on Wednesday.
