12th biennial conference of writers' body held

MORIGAON, Jan 1: The 12th biennial conference of All Assam Lekhika Samarooh Samittee, Morigaon unit was held on Sunday with a day-long programme at Morigaon Pabitora Hut. The programme began with the hoisting of the committee’s flag by Chandralekha Gohain Lahan, president, All Assam Lekhika Samarooh Samittee, Morigaon. Thereafter, Ri Deka, vice-president, All Assam Lekhika Samarooh Samittee, Morigaon lit the ceremonial lamp. The first session was started with a delegate’s meeting where the 31-member new committee was formed under the leadership of Podevi Mahanta, president, Parameswari Deka, secretary, Smriti Rekha Gohain, vice-president, Ri Deka, vice-president, Archa Sarma, assistant secretary, Anda Devi, assistant secretary.

 On the other hand, Bani Barua, retired lecturer, iugurated the open meeting. The mouthpiece Kapili was iugurated by Mileswar Pator, former president, Morigaon district literary body. Haren Bora, president, Morigaon district literary body, and Pradeep Paraswar, president, Kabi Moncha, Morigaon spoke in the meeting. The programme ended with a cultural programme performed by members of the organization.
