PATHSALA, June 2: A 13 year boy was killed by a fully loaded speeding Bhutan truck at NH-31 Barama in Baska District. The accident that took place in front of St.John’s school in the morning left locals in anger as they surrounded the truck and put it on fire. The deceased have been identified as Pinkumoni Kalita of St.John’s HS School, son of Phulen Kalita, a resident of Kuwara village under Patacharkuchi PS of Bajali subdivision. He died on spot due to his serious injuries, other two received minor injuries. It is learnt from the sources that the dumper bearing registration no-BT-2-A-8290 (Bhutan) suddenly hit the boy while he was getting down from the bike which was ridden by his father.
The truck driver fled from the spot. Increasing number of accidents in the area has led to a grip of fear among the locals as truck and other vehicles ply dangerously at high speed during school time.
The trucks which were set on fire carried the registration number BP-02-A-3126 and BP-02-A-8290. Police and CRPF personnel soon rushed to the spot and maged to bring the situation under control. The angry mob demanded speed breaker in front of the school. The family members of Pinkumoni received great shock over the unexpected sudden death of their child. Meanwhile the body of the deceased child was brought to Kuwara village and cremated.
