15 gm brown sugar seized, two arrested by Naharkotia Police

Naharkotia: Led by Officer in-charge of Naharkotia Police Station, Bhaskar Saikia, a police team, acting on a tip-off, apprehended two drug peddlers and recovered 15 grams of brown sugar from their possession. The police also seized a Pulsur bike (UP-16 BE-0750) which the peddlers used. The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Sawang Lowang of Joypur Noktegaon and Pranjal Buragohain alias Munna of Naharkotia town.

According to police sources, Sawang and Pranjal bought the brown sugar worth Rs 30,000 from an unidentified person in Duliajan and while returning to Naharkatia, police intercepted them and arrested them. A case has been registered (PS case no. 60/19 u/s 21(b) under NDPS act. The seized brown sugar, police said, was sent to FSL, Kahilipara in Guwahati for forensic test.
