15 Pakistan troopers killed in retaliatory firing on J&K border: BSF

Jammu, Oct 28: At least 15 Pakistan troopers were killed and 20 others injured in retaliatory shelling and firing by the BSF on the Intertiol Border in Jammu and Kashmir, the Border Security Force (BSF) said on Friday. “Fifteen Pakistan troopers have been killed and 20 injured. We have destroyed some of their border outposts and damaged a few others,” BSF Additiol Director General Arun Kumar told reporters here.

The officer said the use of particular type of ammunition, including 120 mm mortar, indicated that the Pakistan Army was supporting its Rangers in effecting ceasefire violations on the Intertiol Border. He was speaking on the sidelines of a wreath-laying ceremony to honour BSF trooper Jitender Singh killed in Pakistan shelling.

Jammu District Magistrate Simrandeep Singh, who attended the solemn ceremony, said one civilian was killed in Khour belt of Pallanwala Sector in Pakistani shelling on Friday while another civilian was injured. Pakistan troops have been targeting civilian areas and forward security posts along the Intertiol Border in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts during the last five days. (IANS)
