2 held with brown sugar in Lakhipur

Silchar, June 10: Two persons identified as Mani Barbhuiya (45) and Laltanpui Hmar (50) were detained by village defence party and Meira Paibi of Tolengram under Lakhipur police station this morning. According to SDPO Jyoti Ranjan th, the duo was found moving in suspicious manner which prompted VDP and the Manipuri women’s organization to keep them under detention. On being informed, a team of police persons led by the SDPO and assisted by sub-inspector Guanpui and a lady constable reached the Tolengram and took them into custody. After thorough search, brown sugar concealed in 5 small bottles was seized from the possession of the two persons. The value of the seized contraband good will be in thousands of rupees which could not be ascertained from police source. While Mani Barbhuiya belongs to Hatirhar village, Laltanpui Hmar hails from Hmarkhawlien both under Lakhipur police station. Both were produced before the court here and remanded to police custody for further interrogation and to find out if they are regular drug paddler.
