20 feared Dead, another 40 injured in Shiite Mosque attack in Eastern Afghanistan

Guwahati: A violent blast in a Shiite Mosque in Eastern Afghanistan has killed more than 20 worshippers and injured many today during the weekly prayers.

Two suicide bombers attacked the Shiite Mosque in the Gardez city of Paktia province today where the worshippers had gathered for the afternoon Namaz.

The head of Gardez city public health department, Wilayat Khan Ahmadzai said," We have received 60 wounded worshippers and four dead at the civilian hospital in Gardez”.

The attack on the Shiite mosque is a repeat of the terrorist attacks in urban areas of Afghanistan by Islamic State (IS) terrorists and Taliban terrorists.

It should be mentioned that the Taliban is planning on peace talks with Afghanistan government and the terror outfit has not claimed responsibility for any major terror attacks in Afghanistan in the recent past.

But the city of Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan has suffered several attacks by the IS which has targeted everything from government establishments to a midwife training center.

The increased attacks come as an arrogant response to US and Afghan forces which have intensified ground and air troops against the terror outfits.

The attack on the Shiite Mosque reverberates the anti-Shia stand of IS terror outfits.
