200 kg of Cannabis Destroyed By The Villagers of Leporiang

LEPORIANG: Taking serious cognizance over the repeated violation of killing wildlife animals and illegality supplying Cannabis by the villagers of Leporiang, a mass awareness programme was organized by the All Leporiang Circle Gaon Burah Welfare Association (ALCGBA) in collaboration with the Department of Environment & Forest at Leporiang General Ground on Monday.

In a positive note, the villagers voluntarily surrendered Two Hundred Kilograms of Cannabis to the association which was later burnt down publically at the round. All the HGBs, GBs, students, social workers, youth welfare association, Women Welfare Society and the public attended the camp on the day. Highlighting the objective behind organizing the camp, president ALCGBA Tarh Silup said that the camp was to bring a concrete resolution on protecting hunting of wildlife animals and cultivation and supply of Cannabis. “The main objective of the camp is to prohibit destruction of natural vegetation, wildlife species, cannabis cultivation and supply and prohibition on the usage of Guns for hunting animals,” Silup said.
