Haflong, July 13: The Gorkha Community of Dima Hasao, especially of Haflong, celebrated Bhanu Jayanti, the 204th Birth Anniversary of poet Aadhi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya at Cultural Institute Hall in a solemn way on Friday. The day’s programme started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and offering of floral tribute to the portrait of poet Aadhi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya by the invited guests and others.
The function was attended by Kulendra Daolagupu, Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council as the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao Amitabh Rajkhowa, Deputy Chairman, NCHAC Him Bahadur Chetri, Superintendent of Police Prashanta Saikia and others as the guests of honour. Speaking on the occasion, all the speakers dwelt at length the life sketch and also the contribution of the poet Aadhi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya and appealed to all to follow the foot prints of such great poet who taught us to spread humanity. In this function the meritorious students of Dima Hasao and also from the Gorkha community were awarded. The folk artist Jainacharan Bathati and poet Damodari was also felicitated with citation for their valuable contribution in their respective fields.
