23.5 kilos of suspected Heroin recovered from Nagaon, Two Arrested

Nagaon: Based on a tip-off from Special Branch Delhi Police, Nagaon Police under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (headquarters), Deputy Superintendent of Police and Delhi Police launched an operation at Bengenaati under Nagaon District and recovered around 23.5 kilos of suspected heroin from a residence of one lady identified as Noor Fatema Sheikh (name changed) on Wednesday.

As per Delhi Police report, one Dhanjit Gupta hailing from Rohtaj District in Bihar is allegedly involved in a running a drug trafficking network along with the Nagaon based lady. It is also suspected that both the accused were suppose to export these drugs in Dimapur.

Speaking in connection to the matter, Nagaon Superintendent of Police, Sankarbrata Rai Medhi said, "We got information that a team of a special branch of Delhi Police had apprehended one accused in connection to the matter. Based on their interrogation, they have discovered that the fact that some amount of suspected heroin has been concealed by a lady from Nagaon. Accordingly, we launched an operation and raided the house owned by Noor Fatema Sheikh in Bengenaati area and also apprehended her from the spot, we also recovered the suspected 23.5 kilos of heroin from the residence. Both the persons are now being interrogated by the team of special branch Delhi Police."

SP Nagaon also informed that there might be some more recovery in connection to the case. Nagaon Police had already launched a comprehensive drive against drugs in the region. "We also expect public's active participation in it as well," appealed the SP further.
