A 24-hour helpline by TN government has been started to help inter-caste couples who hold up grievances against provocation, the Tamil Nadu government told the Madras High Court, on Thursday. Unique cells, involving agent chiefs of police and administrators of the police, have been formed in all the areas and urban communities for this, revealed PTI. The 24-hour helpline by TN governmentand special elements of the uncommon cells will be uploaded on all police and government sites soon so the help reaches faster.

In 2016, Vimaladevi (from Usilampatti), whose folks’ declined to acknowledge her marriage with a person of different caste, committed suicide. Inquirer K Samuelraj, who is the State Secretary, Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front, affirmed that the legislature was not consented to the court’s requests after Vimaladevi passed away. This incident and alike necessitated the need for this 24-hour helpline by TN government.

The legislature said that, additionally, an online protest enrollment office has been set up in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems and also versatile applications, which can be utilized by pestered nationals or their relatives. The protests can be sent online to the police headquarters. The government affidavit says that this, however, prevents the needs of an inter-caste husband and wife or even their relatives to physically go to the police station and give a complaint at the very first instance.
