25 dairy farmers from Hailakandi undergo training at the Directorate of Dairy Development in Guwahati

Hailakandi: At the initiative of Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Keerthi Jalli, 25 dairy farmers from different parts of southern Assam’s Hailakandi district are undergoing training at the Directorate of Dairy Development in Guwahati.

Deputy Commissioner, Jalli flagged off the bus carrying the farmers to Guwahati in the presence of officials of District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary on Wednesday. She urged the selected farmers to imbibe the best dairy farming practices and management from the five-day training to be conducted by experts and resource persons and to put it to the application to make dairy a profitable business and thus add to the economy of the district and the State as a whole. Coordinating the exercise, Deputy Director In-charge, Diary Development, Silchar Zone, Niranjan Bhuyan said the five-day training sponsored by NABARD which began in Guwahati on Thursday has been made possible due to the personal initiative of DC, Keerthi Jalli.

Bhuyan said experts and resource persons will impart training on various aspects of value addition to milk products and marketing strategies through the best dairy farming practices and management. “Diary farming is the only business which is immune to drought or recession,” he added.
