25th awareness programme for National SC-ST Hub held in Dhubri

DHUBRI: The 25th awareness programme for National SC-ST Hub was held to attract the entrepreneurs towards the government’s initiatives to provide them various incentives and help to grow and flourish in the field of micro, small and medium sector. The programme was held at the Committee Hall, ICAR NRC on Pig at Rani on Sunday.

The programme was organized with the support of the PHD Chamber of Commerce (PHDCCI) in accordance with the NSSH Scheme, which is an initiative of the Ministry of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) targeted towards developing a supportive ecosystem for SC/ST entrepreneurs.

Speaking in the awareness meeting, Deputy Resident Director, NER, PHDCCI, S K Hazarika spoke at a length on the SC/ST scheme of the MoMSME. Hazarika said that the hub would provide professional support to SC/ST entrepreneurs to fulfil the obligations under the Central Government Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises procurement Policy Order, 2012.

“The government is trying to make procurement activities of the public sector more inclusive and participative as the Public Procurement Policy 2012 for MSMEs mandates that Central Government ministries, Departments and Public-Sector Undertakings procure minimum of 20 per cent of their annual value of goods or services from MSMEs. In addition, 4 per cent of total procurement of goods and services are to be made from micro and small enterprises owned by SC and ST entrepreneurs,” Hazarika added.

Former Executive Counsellor of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Jayanti Rabha graced the inaugural function as chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Deputy General Manager, NEDFi, Manoj Kr Das said that the awareness programme would provide a much needed platform for the existing and emerging entrepreneurs of the State and enrich the knowledge of SC/ST entrepreneurs on latest developments, technology trends and quality standard. General secretary of All Assam Rabha Students’ Union, Pradip Rabha suggested ways on how the status of the tribal people could be uplifted. He urged the SC/ST participants to come forward and avail the facilities provided to them.
