28.64% polling recorded till 11 AM in Assam

Guwahati: The third and final phase of Lok Sabha polls in Assam is underway at four constituencies- Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Gauhati and till 11 AM 28.64% polling recorded in all the four constituencies.

The voter turnout in Dhubri recorded till 11 AM was 31.54%, Kokrajhar (ST)-27.2%, Barpeta 25.86% and Gauhati turns out at 29.47%.

The polling has been conducted at 9577 polling stations and 7477062 electors are eligible to cast their votes.

Actress Barasha Rani Bisoya has also exercised her franchise and after casting her vote at Uzanbazaar Sishu Vidyalaya. she said that she had fulfilled her responsibility by casting her vote to a responsible candidate. Talking about youth voters she said, “The youths are now aware and they know their responsibility and therefore they have come out in large number to exercise their franchise.” She also said that there should be a clean politics so that people don’t have to lose their faith in politics.

Independent candidate of Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency Upamanyu Hazarika also casts his vote. Casting his vote at Uzanbazaar Sishu Vidyalaya Hazarika said, “The step that the Election Commission has taken by distributing the voter slip house to house is a good initiative. People have to search their name and centre in the website which becomes difficult for most of the people.”

He also said that people have come out in large number to cast their vote which is a good step as the high percentage of voting will decide the fate of a suitable candidate.
