32 employees issued show cause notice for neglecting election duty

KOKRAJHAR, March 31: The Returning Officer, Kokrajhar, Thaneswar Malakar on Tuesday issued show cause notice to as many as 32 employees of Kokrajhar for neglecting their election duty.

Sources from DIPRO, Kokrajhar, Ansuma Mohilary said 32 government employees were issued show cause notice for neglecting their duty as the third elections to BTC is scheduled to be held on April 8. The employees of various departments have been engaged in the election duty. He quoted Returning Officer as saying that action would be taken against the government employees who were found to be involved with any political party in campaigning and other activities.

Meanwhile, a meeting with the contesting candidates and agents of all political party and organizations was held at the DC’s conference hall on Tuesday with district Returning Officer, Thaneswar Malakar in the chair. The Returning Officer briefed the model code of conduct, election expenditure and election offenses to the contesting candidates and agents. He called upon all the parties and candidates to ensure free and fair elections. He also said that the poll preparedness was going on smoothly for peaceful conduct of council election.

The meeting was also attended by Election Observer Tapan Goswamy, SP Sunil Kumar, Expenditure Observer Kalyan Mitra, AROs-PK Bhagawati, T. Muktiyar, Niranjan Baruah and others.
