343rd Swahidi Divas of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Saheb Ji

DHUBRI: All preparations to celebrate the 343rd Swahidi Divas of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Saheb Ji, the ninth Guru of Sikh religion, with a three-day long programme have been completed. The three-day celebration will commence from December 10 and will continue till December 12.

Besides, devotees from various parts of the north-eastern region and abroad are likely to throng the Sikh Temple. A special train for devotees departed from Dibrugarh in the afternoon on Sunday and it will arrive in Dhubri on Monday, and the same train will depart from Dhubri for Dibrugarh on December 12, a Gurudwara source informed.

Like every year, this year too, a fair will be held at Raja Prabhat Chandra Barua Maidan where vendors put up stalls showcasing jewellery, garments, woollen clothes and other items.

When contacted, the secretary of Sikh Pratinidhi Board, Easter Zone (SPBEZ), Sardar Kulwant Sing informed that celebration would begin from Monday with prabhat pheri in the morning followed by Sukhmoni Saheb Paath Kirtan Sri Asa Di Vaar and Aarambh Sri Akhand Paath Saheb.

“As part of the social welfare activities this year, we will also distribute blankets among BPL people, organize blood donation camp and distribute fruits among the patients of Dhubri Civil Hospital. On December 11, Nagar Kirtan (town procession) with Guru Granth Saheb will be taken out where nearly 50,000 Sikh devotees are likely to participate,” Singh further informed.

He also said that all the works, duties and responsibilities, including accommodation of a large number of devotees, Guru ka langar and arrangement for Nagar Kirtan had been assigned among the members of the board. In the evening of December 11, Sikh Pratinidhi Board, Easter Zone will also felicitate the selected dignitaries of Dhubri town at Darbar Hall, a Gurudwara source informed.
