ITANAGAR: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office here has sent a revised proposal to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for approval of four additional counting halls for the State.

The CEO office in its proposal demanded for one each additional counting hall for Papum Pare, Kurung Kumey, Upper Siang and Longding districts as demanded by the respective district electoral officers from existing one counting hall to two considering the feasibility.

Their proposals included seven tables in each counting hall in the same building approved earlier.

Upper Siang DEO has proposed two counting halls instead of one with five tables in each counting hall.

A total of 20 counting centres were approved earlier by the ECI across the State. But, if the proposal is approved, there will be 24 counting halls for counting of votes on May 23 next.
