4 NF Railway staff awarded

 GUWAHATI, April 2: Four railway staff –  Pradip Kumar Mohali, senior section engineer/P-Way/Azamgar; Arindam Paul, loco pilot/goods/Alipurduar junction; Tarun Kumar Biswas, senior assistant loco pilot; and Nikunja Kumar Boro, track maintainer-grade-IV/Rangiya – , were awarded by NF Railway General Mager Sanjive Roy for showing exceptiol devotion towards duty, a press release said. 

On February 11, 2018 engineer Mohali noticed some irregularities in piers of Br. No – MK-8 at km 166/4-5 between Khurial and Kumedpur stations in down line. After inspection of the bridge he found reinforcement between pile and pile cap was ked. He immediately informed all concerned and imposed a speed restriction of 20 kmph for train running, averting an accident. 
On February 26, 2018, Arindam Paul and Tarun Kumar Biswas noticed a baby elephant with mother standing on track at km 67 / 4. They immediately stopped the train by applying emergency brake. Again on same day they noticed two wild elephants crossing railway track at km 163 / 4-5 between Raja Bhatkhowa and Alipurduar Junction station. Again they stopped the train by applying emergency brakes. 
On February 18, 2018, Nikunja Kumar Boro detected a rail fracture at km 390 / 2-3 between Changsari and Agthori section. He immediately controlled approaching train no – 55818 Dn passenger train by informing all concerned. Thus a possible mishap was averted.
