40 Kenyan athletes for Worlds

irobi, Aug 2: Kenya med a team of 40 athletes and 11 officials for the Athletic World Championships to be held in Beijing as they seek to increase their medals tally. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta were at a stadium here to witness the selection, reports Xinhua. The championships start on August 22.

Kenya claimed 12 medals in the last championships in Moscow two years ago. It will seek to improve on that record, having finished fourth behind winners and hosts Russia, the US and Jamaica.

Kenya will face stiff challenge from Ethiopia, Morocco, the US and Britain. IANS
