46.61% polling recorded till 1 PM in Assam

Guwahati: 46.61% polling recorded till 1 PM in Assam in the four constituencies of Gauhati, Dhubri, Kokrajhar and Barpeta.

The poll percentage in Gauhati till 1 pm was 40.60% while in Dhubri it was 53.07%, Kokrajhar (ST) 47.59% and Barpeta recorded with 46.21% polling till 1 PM.

It has been seen that many youth voters have come out to cast their vote as they wish a strong and determined government. The number of youth voters in Phase III polls are 2320149. In between 18-19 years of age, there are 2,92,742 youth voters and 20,27,407 voters in the age group between 20-29 years in Assam.

In Phase I the number of youth voters between the age group of 18-19 years are 2,39,184 while in 20-29 years of age there were 19,67,113 voters.

In Phase II, there were 2,72,215 voters between the age group of 18-19 years while the number of voters between the age group of 20-29 years there were 18,58,314 voters.

One of the youth voters after casting her vote said, "I have cast my vote with a new hope. The political parties don't fulfil any of their promises but I wished that this time they will look after the matter of the burning issues like unemployment."

The polling percentage in 4 LAC of Kamrup Metropolitan District till 1 PM at 51 Jalukbari constituency was 35.09%, 52 Dispur constituency 30.35% while 53 Guwahati East recorded 31% and 54 Guwahati West 30% polling recorded till 1 PM.

The polling has been conducted at 9577 polling stations and 7477062 electors are eligible to cast their votes.
