49th foundation day of Kaliabor College observed

Kaliabor, July 26: The 49th foundation day of Kaliabor College was observed on Wednesday in the college premises in presence of governing body members, teachers, students and invited guests. The day-long programme started with flag hoisting by Prabhat Chandra Goswami, president of Kaliabor College governing body, while an earthen lamp was lit by NN Hazarika, former Principal of the College.  Retired teachers Jinu Goswami and Prasanta Saikia, retired non-teaching staff Mantu Bordoloi and Harakanta th for obtaining Ph.D. degree, two students of B.Sc. second semester, Amlan Goswami and Rajndan Lahkar for participation in the summer school of JNU, were felicitated by the college authority. Governing body president Prabhat Chandra Goswami addressed the gathering and thanked the founders of the college. Earlier Dr. HK Chaliha, Principal of the college, welcomed all invitees and guests on the occasion of the 49th foundation day and presented a report of the college regarding its development and progress. On the occasion, local MLA and State Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta laid the foundation of a new building for Arts block funded by the RUSA. Later, Mahanta, as an alumnus of the college, attended a lecture on GST organized by the alumni association of the college.
