5-day yoga workshop underway at IIM Shillong

SHILLONG, June 21: With the aim to sensitize and lead individuals towards experiencing better living through yoga, IIM Shillong is for the third consecutive year offering a tailor made programme content under the tutelage of Swami Chidananda Ji Maharaj and Swami Dhirendracharya, the founders of ‘Ýog Sadhana Mission.’

The beginning of the five-day workshop titled “Yoga For All,” witnessed good participation from amongst members of the Institute including students, faculty, officers and staff.

Delivering her welcome address, Keya Sengupta, Director in-charge urged the members of the Institute to “take advantage of the programme, which in itself can lead to positive wellbeing of both physique and mind. Yoga is all about self-discipline, we are glad to have Gurujis here. From last 2 to 3years, we are associated with them. Everyone has to know how to control their emotions, and these will key learnings in management.”

Coordinator of the workshop Prusty, said, “IIM Shillong has, over the years, disseminated the practice of yoga to the attendees through its workshops. This year, we attempt to make yoga more fun and entertaining while keeping its essence intact.”

While speaking to the participants, Swam Dhirendracharya drew a relation between yoga and management. “Yoga is the answer for healing stress among working men and women. The techniques of yoga comprise of physical postures (asanas), breath expansion and enhancement (pranayama), relaxation and meditation techniques (dhyaan), coupled with philosophy of simple and natural lifestyle management, leading to overall encouraging productivity and output.” The five day workshop which commenced on June 21 will culminate along with certificate distribution to all participants on June 25.
