Tezpur, May 7: Project Vartak, Tezpur observed the BRO Day and Vartak Day recently. Various competitions were held during the week amongst the personnel of the project. A colourful cultural programme was also organized on May 6. On completion of 58 years since its inception on May 7, 1960, Project Vartak celebrated its 59th Raising Day. The BRO was raised on this day with two projects, Project Vartak (earlier Tusker) at Tezpur for Northeast region and the other at Srinagar. Chief Engineer K P Purushothaman laid wreath at Amar Jawan memorial. Various units were awarded trophies for best performance. The 42 BRTF at Sapper and 127 RCC at Tippy were adjudged Best Task Force and Best RCC respectively.
