6 dead and 10 Critically Injured in a Severe Road Accident in Karnataka

Guwahati: In a shocking and saddening incident of a road accident that took place in Hubli, Karnataka, six tourists died. The incident took place as a result of a head-on collision between a lorry and a bus. The bus was carrying a team of Mumbai based travelers.

The bus carrying the tourists was heading to Hampi of which six travelers died at the spot. Immediately after the accident, the district police rushed to the spot and the injured were admitted to the Hubli KIMS hospital for treatment.

As per police reports, the six dead tourists are identified as Vishwanath (76), Dinkar (74), Ramesh Jaipal (70), Sumedha (65), Lahu (65) and Suchitra (65).

A case has been registered in Annigeri Police Station and an investigation in the matter is underway.

If gone through the latest statistics, there is one death every four minutes due to a road accident in India.

In the year 2013 alone, over 1,37,000 people were killed in road accidents and that is more than the number of people killed in all our wars put together. the shocking fact is that 16 children die on Indian roads daily. The road accident in the national capital is even alarming as 5 people dies on Delhi’s roads every day.
