62 packets of ganja seized

Silchar, March 25: Cachar police seized 62 packets of ganja weighing 930 kg in total recently. On March 20 at around 11 pm, they received an information that an accident took place on NH 44 at Digharkhal Bazaar at about 10.45 pm where a truck bearing no JK 02AM 0356 collided at the back side of a stranded truck causing damage. The driver and the handyman of the said truck received serious injuries. Immediately, the driver Sunny Barman (30) son of late Bikash Barman of Beharbari, Baisistha, Guwahati and the handyman Arjun  Sarma (28), son of late Krishprasad Sarma of 9 Mile, Guwahati were shifted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The truck was found to be without any load. Based on information from reliable sources, Cachar Police on March 23 learned that the alleged truck consisted of a secret modified chamber in between the cabin and the body and that the packets of ganja were kept concealed there. Accordingly, they thoroughly searched and found the ganja packets packed with brown colour tap.
