6th Bhairabkunda Festival gets off to glittering start

UDALGURI, Jan 18:  The 6th Bhairabkunda festival organized by BTC Tourism department in collaboration with the Bhairabkunda Festival organizing committee, began on Wednesday. Tridip Daimary, BTC Speaker and also the working president of the festival organizing committee, hoisted the flag of Bhairabkunda tourism followed by lighting of lamp by Ripen Daimary, the MCLA of Bhairabkunda constituency. The door of the exhibition-cum-sale stores of local self-help groups was iugurated by Rihon Daimary, State PHE, Food and Civil Supplies Minister and the chairman of Bhairabkunda festival committee. He hoped that the festival would contribute to developing the fraternity and in cultural adjustment between the people of Bhutan, Aruchal Pradesh and the local ethnic communities of the vicinity. He urged people to cooperate to boost tourism in the region.

In this iugural session, besides the student leaders of the district, Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Das, SP Rajbeer Singh, CO of Army Durgesh Kumar Bansal and CO of 61 Bn SSB Bhairabkunda, OP Agarwalla were present on the occasion. A friendly exhibition match between 61 Bn SSB and Bhutan was also held. A dance competition was also organized on the occasion.
