7-hour engine bandh re-scheduled on September 29

KOKRAJHAR, Sept 24: The joint movement group -ABSU, NDFB (Progressive) and PJACBM-  have re-scheduled the 7-hour all Assam engine bandh on September 29 instead of September 30. The general secretary of the ABSU, Lawrence Islary, general secretary of NDFB (P), Swmkhwr and chief convenor of PJACBM, Rakesh Boro, said in a statement that the engine bandh was advanced by a day as September 30 is Mahalaya, a religious occasion. He said the 7-hour engine bandh will start from 7 am to 2 pm on September 29. He, however, said the tiol highways and schools/colleges/university bus/vans would be exempted from the bandh and all the shops with business establishments would remain open during bandh hours. He said this bandh had been called for solution of the Bodoland issue and the group appealed to the people of the State to cooperate and observe the bandh. He further said the government would be solely responsible for any untoward incident and that the Bodoland movement would continue rigorously in the days to come.
