A rhino poacher escapes from the custody of the Bagari Forest division in Kaziranga

KAZIRANGA: A rhino poacher escaped from the custody of the Bagari Forest division in Kaziranga on May 13. Aktar Ali was nabbed on May 9 by Jakhalabandha Police from Garubandha in Jakhalabandha of Nagaon district. He was involved in many rhino poaching cases at Kaziranga National Park. The accused was also involved in poaching a rhino on December 15, 2018 near Bagari Forest Division, an official said. He resides at Bandradubi in Kaziranga National Park.

When the news of his escape reached the local people, they came to the Bagori forest range and protest at the range office demanding suspension of Range Officer Pankaj Bora for alleged negligence.
