A Tribute to Sridevi- The “Chandini” of Bollywood

Millions of Sridevi’s fans in India and all over the World recall her on her birth anniversary. This versatile Bollywood diva cum actor was born on August 13, 1963. She left a gaping hole in the Indian film industry when she took her last breath earlier this year. The late actress was only 54 and had a lot of dreams to chase; a lot to contribute to the film world, and immense love to gather.

Her last film “Mom”, was one of her best contributions to the Hindi cinema. Although, Sridevi was not seen playing active roles in the film industry from 1990, she made a comeback in 2012 through the movie, “English Vinglish”, where she played a woman who is unhappy with her husband and daughter. They make fun of her English and whereas she wanted to learn the language.

She has given a number of blockbuster hits, including “Sadma ” (1983), “Mr. India” (1987), “ChaalBaaz” (1989), “Gumrah” (1993), “Laadla” (1994), and “Judaai” (1997). She was considered as the first female superstar of Indian cinema. Sridevi was also a film producer. She has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada film industries.

Sridevi Kapoor’s eldest daughter Janhvi Kapoor shared an adorable picture with her mom and father Boney Kapoor on her mothers 55th birth anniversary. As she shared the picture, the actors' fans and close friends shared their wishes and remembered the actor.

However, this is not the first time that Janhvi has articulated her love for the late actor. Prior to this, on the occasion of her parents’ anniversary on June 2, Janhvi Kapoor had shared a photo of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor where the Boney Kapoor was seen planting a kiss on Sridevi's cheek while Janhvi was seen praising their bond and love her parents share.

Sridevi was also praised for her sense of fashion and beauty, and so is her daughter, Janhvi Kapoor. Janhvi Kapoor has recently made an entry to the Bollywood through her debut film “Dhadak”, opposite to Shahid Kapoor’s brother, Ishaan Khatter. It is a tragic romance film written and directed by Shashank Khaitan. The movie was jointly produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta. And, Janhvi Kapoor has dedicated her debut film Dhadak to her beloved mom Sridevi.

A lot of stars have tweeted in the remembrance of this Bollywood diva. Riteish Deshmukh tweeted, “True treasure of Indian Cinema -wishing you a very Happy Birthday Mam @SrideviBKapoor.” Satish Kaushik has tweeted, “Wishing the forever beautiful and great actress madam @SrideviBKapoor a Happy Birthday... Happiness Always”

Sridevi’s on-screen pair and brother-in-law, Anil Kapoor has tweeted a heart touching message, “A true star that shone brightly on-screen & lit up the lives of everyone she touched. Not a day goes by when we don’t miss you Sri. We see your reflection in #JanhviKapoor & #KhushiKapoor every day. You live on in our hearts & minds...” He has posted a photo of Sridevi with her husband Boney Kapoor and two daughters: Janhvi and Khushi.
