AAPBSU  demands Border Affairs Director

ITANAGAR, June 20: Retreating the demand for immediate appointment of an independent director for the department of the inter-state border affairs with permanent office building, the All Arunachal Pradesh Border Students’ Union (AAPBSU) on Wednesday has serve a 20-day ultimatum to the State government to fulfill its demand.

In a press conference held at Arunachal Press Club (APC) on Wednesday, the union said, there is need for an independent director for the department as the interstate boundary issue is a major one.

Demanding of the state government to appoint a local penal of advocates to pursue boundary dispute cases in the Supreme Court, Tana Sunny Tara said, “There is an acute shortage of police personnel especially in the APPBn. State government should accord re-concurrence for the creation of 977 posts in the third batch of the APPBn recruitment proposal to be deployed in the border areas of the state.”

Although the Assistant Inspector General of Police (ADM) had on April 11, 2012, placed the proposal for creation of 977 posts in the battalion, but the matter is still pending without any initiation from the state government, Union said.

As a mark of their democratic movement, the union also announced to take out a rally from Akash Deep to Tennis Court IG Park on July 14, if the demand is not met at the earliest.
