AAPSU welcomes HPC meet on refugee issue

Itanagar, April 26: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has welcomed the proposed 5th meeting of the Joint High-Powered Committee (HPC) on April 27 here to discuss issues relating to Chakma and Hajong refugees in the State. The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of MHA Joint Secretary (North East). The meeting will be attended by AAPSU executive members and legal advisors, Chakma and Hajong representatives from the Committee of Citizenship Rights of the Chakmas and Hajongs of Arunachal Pradesh (CCRCHAP), MHA Joint Secretary (Foreingers) Anil Malik and representatives of the State government. 
AAPSU deputy spokesperson Nepha Wangsa, in a statement on Wednesday, stated that the fourth meeting of Joint High-Powered Committee was held at North Block, New Delhi on January 4 this year and MHA Joint Secretary (NE) had assured to hold another meeting in the month of February. However, such meeting was not held as assured.
The State’s apex students’ body is hoping participation of all stakeholders, DCs and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) from Forest department to give vivid accounts on the issue from the affected areas.
