AASAA gheraos Demow electrical subdivision office

DEMOW, May 18: The All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) Demow Regional Committee gheraoed the Demow electrical subdivision office on Thursday in protest against electricity supply problems in tea garden areas. Under the leadership of Binanda Chaura, president, and Lalit Tanti, secretary of AASAA Demow Regional Committee, a memorandum was submitted to Demow Circle Officer on Thursday and in the memorandum, the AASAA Demow Regional Committee said that since the last few days, the Demow electrical subdivision had been sending average bills to the tea estates. Despite paying the electricity bill every month, a huge amount has been showed pending by Athabari, Khongia, Kharahat and Mahkhuti Tea Estates.

Moreover, in the memorandum, the AASAA Demow Regional Committee alleged that the labourers of the tea estates were being mentally harassed by the Demow electrical subdivision. The AASAA Demow Regional Committee demanded electricity supply in the tea gardens under PMUY.
