AASAA reiterates demand to include Adivasis in ST list

TANGLA, September 22: The All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) staged a dhar at the DC court premises in Udalguri on Thursday, reiterating its demands to include the Adivasis of Assam in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) list, hike of daily wages in tea gardens to Rs 330 and immediate rehabilitation of the evicted Adivasi families in Ashrabari-Deosri forest village of Chirang district.

The protest was led by AASAA president Pradip g and general secretary Joseph Minz, along with Udalguri district committee president Suresh Lumga and secretary Ismail Takri with more than 200 activists of AASAA.

The AASAA central and district committee activists also submitted a memorandum to the President of India Prab Mukherjee through the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri.
