AASU demands enquiry into poor repair work of Balichang-Bhimajuli road

From a Correspondent

Biswath Chariali, Feb 13: The Pabhoi unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) submitted a memorandum to Parimal Shukla Baidya, State PWD Minister, through the Deputy Commissioner of Biswath on Monday demanding a high-level enquiry into the alleged poor repair and renovation work in the Balichang-Bhimajuli road by the contractor concerned.  The repair work of the road was started around four years back under the initiative of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi when he had visited the Bhimajuli massacre site in 2009. The AASU unit alleged that the sub-standard work had led to erection of cracks on the road soon after the black topping was done. The newly-constructed culverts also failed to serve the needs of passersby, the student body alleged in the memorandum. They threatened to start a strong agitation soon if no action is taken by the government.
