AAU distributes 5267 Soil Health Cards

Jorhat, Dec 12: The Assam Agricultural University celebrated World Soil Day on December 5, 2015 in 23 KVKs by organizing special events and distributed Soil Health Cards to farmers. Farmers, civic and public bodies’ representatives and line department officials participated and were educated to use the cards for maximizing farm productivity.

To make the programme more meaningful a Kisan Mela was also organized to showcase the latest agricultural technologies and also had an interaction with the practicing farmers on different issues related to soil health.

Altogether 6283 farmers attended the programmes in 23 KVKs. As many as 5627 Soil Health Cards were distributed.

MP Bijoya Chakravarty iugurated the Soil Day at KVK Kamrup with the plantation programme at Kahihuchi. In her address, she appealed the participants to maintain soil health along with surrounding environment for the future generations.

MP Rajen Gohain attended the World Soil Day organized by KVK gaon at its campus and KVK Morigaon at District Library Auditorium.

At KVK Jorhat, Rupjyoti Kurmi, Parliamentary Secretary expressed his happiness for large presence of the farmers on the occasion of “World Soil Day”.

Emmanuel Musahary, MLA Tamulpur constituency iugurated the World Soil Day at Tamulpur organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Baksa.

At the office of the District Agricultural officer, Bongaigaon, MLA Bhupen Roy attended the programme organized by KVK Bongaigaon. MLA Majendra rzary expressed satisfaction that the KVK had organised programme on World Soil Day and prepared soil health card for the benefit of the farmer at KVK Kokrajhar campus. The World Soil Day was celebrated with much enthusiasm by KVK Sonitpur at its campus and it was presided over by MLA Rajen Borthakur.
