ABSU president slams BTC chief Mahilary

From our Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, April 3: All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) president Pramod Boro has said that the student body has been involved in the forthcoming BTC elections as part of its struggle for change, not for persol political interest.

Talking to reporters here at Dotma, Boro said, “The people of the region wanted all round development but the leaders, who were in power in BTAD, have miserably failed to fulfill their promises and the desire of the people. The people wanted total peace and security of all communities after the BTC was created but the ruling party in BTC has forgotten the promises they made.  Many leaders of the council have been involved in massive corruption, favoritism, nepotism.”

He alleged that only a section of people have been enjoying the benefits of the council. “The people of the region have desired change and so they are coming forward to support the PCDR backed candidates,” he added.

Boro said, “PCDR was not formed for only political interest but it is a platform for the transformation of all people.”

He said, “Many political party candidates have been claiming that they will win over 30 to 35 seats and form council but the PCDR and the ABSU will never feel it fit to be necessary. It is the people who will cast vote and ensure victory of the candidates. We cannot say how many seats would come to PCDR and we also not think it necessary to claim before the people as we respect the people’s mandate”.

He also added that such claim will create confusion among the voters. “The PCDR will work for the restoration of democracy, good governce and ensure social security and development of all communities,” he added.

The ABSU president slammed BPF president Hagrama Mohilary for his comments who alleged that there was secrete political understanding between the BJP and People’s Coordition for Democratic, Rights (PCDR).

He said that Mohilary has realized that the people of the region are looking for a change in the administration and now he fears of losing power and so he utters such words.
