ABSU slams Assam state text book publication unit for errors

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 11: The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) on Thursday slammed the Assam State Text Book Productions and Publications for errors in a textbook of Class X with misleading illustration of a community. A textbook on history as Social Science Part-I for Class X under SEBA published by the Assam State Text Book Productions allegedly has error in the illustration. This was informed by the education secretary of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) Kastom Basumatary in a press release on Thursday.

Basumatary said in chapter 5, several dances of different communities of the Northeast have been shown but the Bodo ‘Bagurumba’ dance has been illustrated as a Rabha dance in the chapter. He said such insincerity on the part of the Assam Text Book Productions and Publications had hurt the sentiments of the Bodo community.

The ABSU has strongly demanded correction of the error and urged the Assam State Text Book Productions and Publications to take necessary action to re-print the textbook. The student body also warned the Assam State Text Book Productions and Publications not to repeat such mistakes in the future which could mislead the student community as well as the society.
