Action taken against pharmacies for violating rules

Dibrugarh, April 24: Deputy Drug Controller and Licensing Authority (DDCLA) has taken  punitive measures against 14 pharmacies in the district for blatant violation of various provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act (D&C Act) ,1945.

The DDCLA has cancelled the licenses of three pharmacies of the district on the basis of the report furnished by the Senior Drug Inspector, Dibrugarh, Krishna Baishya who during his inspection found that these  pharmacies had flouted the provisions of D& C Act,1945, like running of pharmacy without a pharmacist, selling of medicines after expiry date and without prescription and failure to display drug license in the pharmacy premises.

Accordingly, the licenses of M/S Life Care Medical Store and M/S Srina Chemist, Duliajan were cancelled for an indefinite period from April 27 while license of M/S Ganesh Pharmacy of the same area  has been cancelled for 15 days with effect from April 23 on charges of selling medicines past the expiry date. 

Deputy Drug Controller of Dibrugarh, HC Deori, earlier had cancelled the license of 11 pharmacies of the district for violating the rules of D&C Act,1945, out  of which nine pharmacies are closed till today.
