Active Case Finding activities launched under Revised National Tuberculosis Programme in Upper Siang

YINGKIONG: Upper Siang Deputy Commissioner in charge Gyabo Pertin launched the Active Case Finding (ACF) activities under the Revised National Tuberculosis Programme (RNTCP) at Government Girls Residential School, Yingkiong on Friday here. The programme is undertaken under the aegis of District Health Society (RNTCP) Yingkiong.

Gyabo Pertin shared the students that TB once was associated with social stigma but expressed happiness in the positive changes observed in the management of TB cases in recent times. He urged the students to correctly share their relevant personal health information with the health staff for maximum benefit. “It is very good to know that on the inaugural day itself, all the students and teaching staffs of the school have been screened for TB,” he added.

Meanwhile, District TB Officer, Dr Ahik Miyu while highlighting the objective of the ACF, informed the gathering that trained teams of health staffs will conduct house to house screening for TB in selected target populations in the district with the primary objective of detecting TB cases early by active case finding in targeted groups and to initiate treatment promptly.
