Actor Akshay Kumar Donates Rs.1crore to the CM's Relief Fund for the victims of Cyclone Fani

Guwahati: Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar extends his helping hands by donating Rs. 1 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the Odisha cyclone victims.

The destruction that took place in Odisha last week due to the severe cyclonic storm 'Fani' sent the entire country into gloom with loss of so many precious lives. Along with others who are helping from various quarters in this time of crises, actor Akshay Kumar also extends his help towards those who were affected in Cyclone Fani.

The actor has consistently proved that he doesn't restrict his big-heartedness to just the heroes he plays on the big screen but in real life too, he is always ready to help those who are in need. According to an industry source, it said that this is not new. The actor has always been contributing for causes be it his Bharat ke veer initiative for the armed forces or his contribution to the Kerala Floods or Chennai Floods earlier.

In a fund-raising initiative of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Bharat ke Veer, Akshay Kumar has donated Rs. 5crore and had also extended a helping hand to the rain-ravaged Chennai in 2015 by donating Rs. 1crore for relief work.

On the work front, Akshay's upcoming film is Housefull 4 which is the fourth installment of his hit franchise of the same name. The others casts in the film are Bobby Deol, Ritesh Deshmukh, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles and the film is slated to release during Diwali.

Meanwhile, Energy secretary of Odisha Hemanta Sharma informed that the initial estimates showed that the cyclone caused damage of infrastructure worth more than Rs. 1200 crores.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik announced a relief package saying that all families in Puri and parts of Kurda will get 50kg rice, Rs. 2000 and polythene sheets under the Food Security Act (FSA). The FSA families will get a month's quota of rice, Rs. 1000 and polythene sheets who were severely affected in Khurda.
