AFA asked to submit route map of development of football

GUWAHATI, Aug 9: The four-member delegation team of FIFA and AIFF has given three months time to the Assam Football Association to chalk out the detail plans for the development of football in the state. The association will get the help of two experts, who will be recruited next month, to prepare this plan.

Talking to the media person after the end of their three-day hectic tour Shaji Prabhakaran , Regiol Development Officer for FIFA in South and Central Asia, today said the media that there over all experience of this tour is quite satisfactory.

It may be mentioned here that the delegation team made separate meeting with the officials of the Assam Football Association during this tour and also meet with Sports Minister Ajit Singh, the top officials of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department along with representatives of other organizations who has connection with the state football to get an idea of different aspects of this game in the state.

AIFF has selected seven states, including Assam, to launch the pilot project for the development of football in those localities. Apart from Assam, Mizoram is the other state from the Northeast which is selected for this project. As a part of this project Assam Football Association will get necessary supports to take forward their game to next level.

Elaborating the project Shaji today said, “ As a part of this project two experts- Director (Technical) and Director (Operation and Marketing) will be appointed in the Assam Football Association by September. Thereafter Assam will get three months time to submit proposal for their requirements on the development of the game in this State. The two experts who would be appointed next month, will assist Assam Football Association to prepare this proposal."

Shaji also added,“Without developing state football we can't take forward the game in our country. It was the reason that All India Football Federation had decided to start this pilot project." Apart from Shaji today’s media briefing was also attended by, Vincent Subramaniam (FIFA Development Officer) , Sunda Dhar, (CEO, I League) and Savio Medeira (Course Instructor and Development Officer, AIFF) along with the officials of the Assam Football Association.
