AGP-BJP alliance candidate Moni Madhab Mahanta files nomination for Kaliabor parliamentary constituency

NAGAON: AGP-BJP alliance candidate and younger brother of State cabinet minister Keshab Mahanta, Moni Madhab Mahanta filed nomination papers on Monday to the Assistant Returning Officer Hemanta Bhuyan for Kaliabor parliamentary constituency.

On the last day of submission of the nomination papers for the first phase, the alliance supported candidate, Mahanta, in a long procession along with his thousands of supporters and leaders of the alliance parties, came to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon and filed his nomination papers to the authority concerned. AGP president and State Minister Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta, BJP State president Ranjit Kumar Dass, MLA of Batradrova, Angoorlata Deka, distinct AGP president Atul Medhi and other party leaders accompanied Moni Madhab Mahanta during his submission of nomination papers.

In an interaction with local mediapersons here right after filing the nomination papers, Mahanta said that any kind of understanding, either open or secret, between the Congress and AIUDF could not stop him this time in Kaliabor because he had been nominated by the biggest alliance parties represented by the people of all tribes, castes, communities and religions of the constituency.

On the other hand, State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass said that BJP often alleged about the nexus between Congress and AIUDF, sometimes it was open and sometimes it was kept secret. But this time everything was kept open. Hence the people would definitely exercise the franchise in favour of the BJP and its alliance parties.
