AGP convention held

TINSUKIA Nov 10: AGP convention was held at Tinsukia on Friday where more than 700 people from Panitola, Doomdooma, Makum, Bordubi and Tinsukia joined the AGP party. “We firmly stand to our prime ideology of regiolism and would not compromise on any local issues’ said Atul Bora president Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) and Agriculture Minister in the public convention held at District Library Auditorium Tinsukia. In the ensuing Panchyat election, the AGP would not make any alliance with the BJP, declared Bora.

In his address, former Chief Minister Prafulla Mahanta said it is the regiol party that can solve regiol problems. On NRC imbroglio, Mahanta categorically mentioned that it should be solved as per Assam Accord. Referring Hindu Bangladeshi issue, Mahanta stated that it was the responsibility of Bangladesh, a friendly neighbouring country, to protect and safeguard the minority Hindus while opposing vehemently the Greater galim Framework.

Keshav Mahanta, Minister of Science, Technology and IT while welcoming the audience said regiolism has increased manifold over past few years even as AGP remained to be a coalition partner with BJP in State politics. Reiterating AGP’s ideology on regiolism and tiolism, Mahanta said the rights and interest of indigenous people will not be compromised. Organised by Tinsukia District Committee of AGP, the event marked larger participation of women from all walks of life.
