Asom Gana Parishad forms manifesto committee ahead of Lok Sabha Polls

Guwahati: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) held an executive meeting on Wednesday and formed a Manifesto committee ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.

The committee will be headed by Bhupen Roy as President and Prabin Deka as the convener.

AGP President, Atul Bora addressing the media claimed that the BJP-led Government failed to pass the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 in the Rajya Sabha session due to constant struggle and unity of the people of Assam.

AGP had been vehemently opposing the introduction of the bill since its initial stage, Atul Bora claimed further.

AGP party also congratulated Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga, JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar for their constant support in leading the Northeast and other political parties to oppose the bill at the national level.

It is to be noted that the executive meeting was attended by President Atul Bora, AGP working president Keshab Mahanta, Senior AGP leaders Brindabon Goswami, Phani Bhusan Choudhury and Kamala Kanta Kalita.
