AGP stages sit-in, demands dissolution of present NCHAC executive committee

Haflong, May 21: Demanding dissolution of the present executive committee of NCHAC and taking over the administration of NCHAC by the Governor of Assam till election is held (the present term expires on June 3, 2018) and also not to extend the term of election and to hold election immediately, AGP Dima Hasao staged a sit-in in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao at Haflong on Monday. Seeking immediate intervention in the matter of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council by the Governor of Assam, a representation was submitted to the Governor through the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao.

The representation, signed by Bokul Bodo, president, Khawvelthang Hmar, general secretary, Debojeet Thaosen, former CEM, MAC and other leaders, stated that the term of the present Executive Committee of N C Hills Autonomous Council expires in the coming few days and the 12th Executive Committee was to be constituted on or before June 3, 2018. Going through the precedence, there have always been attempts to extend the term of the existing Executive Committee citing irrelevant excuses and pretexts. Such action will only be seen as attempts of debarring the Right to Franchisee of the citizens of the district, it stated.

The AGP Dima Hasao district committee demanded immediate dissolution of the present Executive Committee led by Debolal Gorlosa, CEM, NCHAC, and taking over the charge of the administration of NC Hills Autonomous Council by the Governor of Assam till the formation of the new executive committee of NC Hills Autonomous Council after conducting of fresh election.

The NC Hills Autonomous Council is going through the roughest phase since its inception in the year 1952. The employees have not been paid their salaries for the last 10 months leading to immense hardships to their family members. The AGP Dima Hasao district committee demanded immediate dissolution of the present executive committee led by Debolal Gorlosa CEM (NCHAC) for immediate solution to the salary problems.

The present North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council led by Debolal Gorlosa is a total failure in administration. Hence, to restore the faith of the public of Dima Hasao district in general, the members of Asom Gana Parishad urged the Governor’s intervention in the matter, stated the representation.
