AGSU appeals to Dispur to show responsibility

GUWAHATI, May 23: Led by the AASU, the All Guwahati Students’ Union (AGSU) on Wednesday burnt the effigy of the Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in front of the Swahid Bhavan, Uzanbazaar in protest against the constant price hike on essential commodities. More than hundreds of AGSU activists, while participating in the protest shouted slogans against the failure of the State in regulating the price hike. The AGSU president Razmil Ali and general secretary Raifuddin Ahmed said that the hysterical price hike on petroleum products has been souring the people of the State. “If it is not controlled and regulated, it will result in collateral increase of other essential commodities,” the duo said. Meanwhile, the AGSU appealed both the Centre and Dispur to set example of a responsible government by controlling the price hike.
